Mosquito Borne Diseases During Pregnancy

Mosquitoes cause various diseases among the women at the time of pregnancy. The diseases are caused after the biting of mosquitoes, which already are infected with disease; usually female mosquitoes are responsible for the disease.

Generally we find the diseases of malaria, dengue and chikungunya among the pregnant women.

When the mosquitoes bite the person, she or he gets infected with the disease as the germs get into the body through the blood. The mosquitoes remain much active at the time of dawn and at the time of dusk. A woman or any person can be affected with the disease if she goes through the process of transfusion.

Actually this disease is seen at the time of rains, when excess rains get clogged, and in the stagnant rain water the mosquitoes breed, but this disease is observed through out the year, during the monsoon period for warm and humid condition of the atmosphere, the mosquitoes get at large for breeding, a pregnant woman turns more vulnerable at this period, as this time her immunity power comes down too much.

Pregnant women suffer from some other diseases at this stage, as their immunity power of body gets very low to fight the other diseases. At this time, some other diseases might erupt which are anaemia, enlarge of spleen, kidney failure, and jaundice besides these she may have risk of health of the baby, she can have miscarriage, still birth, the baby may be born with low weight, the baby may be affected with malaria and even death is not impossible for the baby. When she is infected with malaria, she will have some symptoms like headache, vomiting, and high fever.

Dengue is another dangerous disease, which can be a great threat to the pregnant women. This disease is very common in the countries of tropic and subtropics, this disease is common in the city and town areas. The virus gets into the body through the biting of the mosquitoes, these mosquitoes bite generally at the time of early morning and late of the afternoon. Mosquitoes breed in the rainy water. The symptoms which are observed in the dengue affected women are severe headache, high fever, pain in muscle and joint, at the time one losses her appetite and food taste,  on the chest and upper limbs a type of measles can be seen, with that she feels vomiting.

Another dangerous disease is chikungunya, it is due to viral infection, when attacked with this disease, she feels joint pain, and high fever, name of this disease has come from Tanzanian word, its meaning bends up, by this stooping posture or position of the body is meant, joint muscular pain is tremendous painful symptom of the disease.

This disease is caused by the virus which is carried through the female tiger mosquitoes and some specific mosquitoes also break out the disease of dengue. When

one is affected with this disease, rash comes out on her body. This disease develops in the body within 3 to 10 days with the symptoms fully and it takes to some more weeks and even months for recovering.
